Coconut Grove Beachfront Cottages is a small, intimate resort located directly on the ocean and a private, white sand beach. Surrounded by mango trees and coconut palms, we have just three accommodations, thus assuring you a very private holiday. When we bought our slice of paradise we made a conscious decision to make sure we kept it just the way we would want it to be if we were here on vacation. It was important to us that we retain the solitude and simplicity of the island way of life, which is one reason why we have no disco and no cable TV.
What we do have, however, is extraordinary: diving and snorkeling, incredible nature walks, the greatest staff this side of the Pacific and sunrises that will take your breath away. The names of our three spacious bures are Banana, Mango, Papaya. Each has its own unique appointments, queen bed, hot water outdoor “honeymoon” showers, mini-fridges and private verandah.

Our restaurant serves food of which we are very proud. Small and intimate, set on the front verandah of our island home and overlooking the ocean, it’s a very special feeling that we want you to experience. Your meals can be served there, on your private verandah or down on the beach by candlelight.
Our leaning is towards fresh fish and seafood, organically grown vegetables and homemade pastas. We love to prepare curries and Fijian food as well, and we also import some of the finest beef New Zealand has to offer. An optional meal plan is available for two delicious meals daily.
Many nights we have the guys come play their ukuleles and sing their sweet island tunes. It is an important part of our effort to show you as much of the Fijian culture as possible while you are here with us. We also have village night when the entire village performs meke (traditional story/dance) on our beach, followed by lovo (food cooked in an earth oven over volcanic rocks).
Diving is the draw to our island for many people, as the Somosomo Strait is rated as one of the top five dive locations in the world. We’ll be happy to arrange dive packages with one of the professional local operators.
What else to do on our island? Taveuni is ideal for the traveler who wants to experience one of the few places left on earth that is still pristine and unaffected by the modern world. Coconut Grove is right 'in the thick of it all'. And we can arrange any of the following for you:
Nature hikes, bird watching, rainforest walks, village visits, horseback riding, fishing trips with top local professionals, kayaking, sailing excursions and snorkeling trips. On the other hand, you can relax and experience: massage by a professional masseuse right in your room, chiropractic and natural medicine, dolphin watching from your verandah, wine sipping, hammock lying, chaise lounging or star gazing.
Complimentary at Coconut Grove are the use of our ocean kayak and snorkel gear, a 1/2 hour massage for one in our new massage bure on the beach, snorkel trips to the reef and village visits.
